Do you have ADHD or trouble staying focused while reading a book?
Here's a simple hack I created that changed my life.
It's called a "Distraction Catcher":
Here's how it works: 1) Stick a post-it note to the cover of your book. 2) Then set a timer for 15 mins on your phone or device. 3) Now start reading your book. 4) Anytime a thought or task pops into your head, write it down on the post-it note then get back to reading.
During your reading session, you're only allowed to read your book OR write on the post-it note, nothing else.
Having a place to write down your thoughts, tasks, and ideas helps free up mental space in your head so that you can get back to focusing on your book.
Once the 15 minutes are up, you're free to act on any of the tasks/thoughts you wrote on your post-it.
It's a simple yet super-effective strategy.
It's also a great way to stop you from trying to task-switch while reading and will help you build up your attention span.
