It's all probabilities.
A scientist is never certain..
We absolutely must leave room for doubt or there is no progress and there is no learning.
Scientific knowledge is an enabling power to do either good or bad — but it does not carry instructions on how to use it.

Being able to think for yourself will lose friends and make enemies.
By definition, it's very hard to have a tribe AND be a "free thinker."
So you either become a loaner or a leader, but you rarely become popular and are never widely received–at least not for long.
